About me

Being a descendant of an Armenian refugee family in Romania, from the time of the Armenian Genocide, I was born on February, 1973 in Miercurea-Ciuc (Harghita).
Fate had it that we moved with my parents to Gherla (the native town of my father). There I graduated the primary and high school and in 1998 I took my degree in Economics from the University Babes-Bolyai of Cluj-Napoca. At present I live in Budapest. Three years ago I started a painting course of miniatures painted on glass in the Armenian Cultural Center.
My preooccupation with art, a tradition in my family (my grandfather was a master in carpets), began in my high school years. I was encouraged by my then art teacher, and began using tempera and watercolor. Since I was brought up in a spiritually rich place, and was surrounded by many artists of icon painting I had access to practice books on the magnificent icons of Nicula. In this way my interest in the art of icons painted on glass started to grow. By combining the techniques of painting on glass with Armenian miniatures, I opened new ways in art. In more than 20 years of my involvement in art, I have participated in multiple private and collective exhibitions in Romania and other countries:

My work can be found in private collections, not only in my country, but in countries such as Switzerland, Germany, France, USA, Ukraine, Israel and Italy. Also I am a member of the Creative Forum of Csepel as of 2011.
The art of icons on glass means more than painting. I had a fascination for Armenian miniatures, the impressive style, the unique colouring of the Armenian miniatures (which involves meticulous work) and the style of work which has always something to transmit.
